C’est en 1966 que Jean Claude Malgoire, soliste à l’Orchestre de Paris, fonde La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy. Cet ensemble cosmopolite constitué d’instrumentistes spécialisés est le plus ancien en France, encore en activité, jouant sur instruments d'époque.
